Building on the success of various government initiated awards to promote environmental awareness in the community, the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) is a merger and extension of three former environmental award schemes, namely the Hong Kong Eco-Business Awards, the Wastewi$e Scheme and the Hong Kong Energy Efficiency Awards. In line with the Government's policy and the need of the community, HKAEE aims to encourage businesses and organizations to adopt green management and green innovations, as well as to present them with an opportunity to benchmark their commitment towards environmental excellence. The HKAEE has been recognized by the community as one of the most prestigious and reputable award schemes in Hong Kong.
The HKAEE is led by the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) alongside the Environmental Protection Department and in conjunction with several organizations, namely, the Advisory Council on the Environment, the Business Environment Council, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the Hong Kong Chinese Importers’ & Exporters’ Association, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Hong Kong Productivity Council..
In 2010, apart from being granted the certificate of merit in the “Sectoral Awards (Property Management)” division, Hong Yip exclusively achieved the “The Most Carbon Less Certificates Organization” Award and “Organization with not less than 50 Environmental Labels (excellence class)” Award. The awards presentation ceremony took place on 20 May, 2011 at the Hong Kong Productivity Council Headquarters Building.
